Keeping Families Close
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia
Since a fitting in the sprinkler system ruptured at the House on Jan. 8, flooding the dining area and ground level, we are steadily making progress. The drying process is well under way, and reconstruction is scheduled to begin next week.
At this time, we are limiting visitations to the House, and as much as we appreciate your donations, we ask that you refrain from making deliveries because the storage room was one of the hardest hit.
Through alternative arrangements, we are still working hard to keep families close.
As always, we appreciate your contributions. We were forced to cancel a Valentine’s Day Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at the House, but we are excited to announce Hearts of Hope.
Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Virginia (RMHC SWVA) provides a comfortable and supportive ‘home-away-from-home’ for the families of critically ill children who must leave their communities and come to the Roanoke Area for medical treatment. Serving over 700 families a year, our 18 room facility is located just 2.5 blocks from Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Our goal is to keep families together by relieving the burden of a place to stay and something to eat so they can concentrate on what’s most important, their child.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is located on the 14th floor of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The Family Room serves as a respite area for adult family members and guests of hospitalized children in a home-like setting where families can relax without leaving the hospital.
Hearts of Hope
When you purchase a heart for $1 and write a Valentine message, participating locations will display it and let everyone know you are sharing your love in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Call us at 540-857-0770 for more information on how to participate.
