Volunteers Mean Hope

“The Heart of a volunteer is not measured in size but by the depth of their commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.”

It takes a special person to care for families with critically ill children and here at the Ronald McDonald House, we have been blessed with hundreds and hundreds of volunteers each year that help make our program what it is. If you drive by the House, stop in for a tour, drop off a donation, or attend a special event – you’ll probably run into a volunteer processing a donation, cooking dinner for our guests, raking leaves in our yard, or helping ensure the special event runs smoothly.

Volunteers are critical to our daily operations and truly are the heartbeat that keeps our mission going. Of course, the early days of the pandemic forced us to put most of our volunteer activities on hold. Since that time, we’ve worked tirelessly to adapt to changing times, and to responsibly integrate volunteers back into their essential roles.

Childhood illnesses and injuries never stopped for COVID-19, and neither did we. But right now, we urgently need volunteers. Caring, compassionate friends like you, our community. We simply can’t meet the demands for services without volunteer support.

Our volunteers serve our programs in many ways – providing food to help kids and families stay strong during the toughest fight of their lives…. providing clean and inviting spaces for families to spend time together when every moment counts… and so much more.

We loved to invite the community to join us once again in providing a home-away-from-home to children and families who need to travel to our area for treatment that isn’t available where they live. These children and families deserve all the love and hope we can give them. It’s through the commitment from friends like you that we can serve families here in Roanoke.
