The Hokie Way Day and Tab Top Extravaganza: A Huge Success!

On a beautiful day filled with excitement and community spirit, we welcomed families and supporters to The Hokie Way Day at the Ronald McDonald House for our annual Tab Top Extravaganza! The event brought together people of all ages for a day packed with fun, celebration, and heart.

We were thrilled to have Hokie athlete Tyson Flowers join us, taking time to meet families, sign autographs, and inspire young fans. The beloved Mugsy from the Salem Red Sox and the energetic team from Steve FM also kept the crowd smiling and energized throughout the day.

One of the highlights was our Tab Top Recycling Contest, where we celebrated the incredible impact our community made in collecting tab tops to support Ronald McDonald House families. Congratulations to the Top 3 Winners in each category — schools, individuals, groups, and businesses — for their amazing contributions!

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) brought their big trucks for an up-close experience that fascinated kids and adults alike. Guests also got to visit with representatives with Virginia 529 and the Mill Mountain Theatre.

Thanks to all our vendors, sponsors, and especially our volunteers for making this day one to remember. Your support helps ensure that Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia can continue to provide a “home away from home” for families with sick children.
