RMHC-SWVA: Progress

Progress is defined as “a forward or onward movement toward a destination.” Progress assures us that we are not standing still and that there are places to go. As uncertain and unprecedented as the past few years have been, we have all held on to every sign, or inkling, that has made us feel like we are making progress; that we are moving forward.

At Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia, we are seeing progress in many ways as our mission continues to be able to provide the support and hope needed by families, parents, and children. We continue to celebrate milestones with our families and their children, our community here in South Roanoke, our donors, and our volunteers have continued to help us in our mission to take care of families in the ways we could control, and we have seen individuals and businesses offer their support and time to help.

In January, RMHC-SWVA welcomed two new board members. Susan Larkin, AVP of Treasury Services at Bank of Botetourt, and Chandra Jones, Project Engineer at Robins & Morton, have joined 10 other community leaders on our Board of Directors.

“I have a spirit to give of my time and look forward to furthering the success of Ronald McDonald House. By joining the board – I can use my skills to help advance the mission of the House and help so many families in need of our services,” Larkin stated.

Our development committee has produced new and exciting ways to elevate donor involvement and program development. Do not worry, you will continue to see our fun events – such as Rock-A-Tee and our Annual Golf Tournament – but we are excited about new opportunities and ways to help support the House.

Make sure and check out our new 2022 Rock-A-Tee and join us for our first wear day Friday, May 6, 2022. Then, ROCK your 2022 tee or a previous Rock-A-Tee every first Friday each month June through December. Plus, our annual Spring Auction kicks off Friday, June 10th at Noon and ends at 5pm on Sunday, June 12th. Join us for a fun weekend of bidding and supporting RMHC-SWVA.

While there is still more progress to be made, here at RMHC-SWVA we wanted to take a moment to thank our community for standing with us during this crazy time. Whether you made a monetary donation, dropped off an in-kind donation, or just kept us in your thoughts, it has been incredible to witness the love and kindness that have been shared with us. Thank you! Here’s to continued progress.
