Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia: Supporting Families and Making a Difference

As August arrives, signaling the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia (RMHC-SWVA) stands ready to continue to support families in need. This incredible organization provides a loving and nurturing environment for families with sick children, ensuring they can stay close to the care and support their children require.

With children heading back to school, the Ronald McDonald House continues to be a beacon of hope for families whose children are facing medical challenges. The House, with 18 bedrooms, each with private baths and two queen-size beds, offers a comforting space for parents and siblings, enabling them to focus on their child’s health. The House also has two large dining rooms, laundry facilities, a playroom, a library, an outdoor playground, and a Magic Room. Most importantly, there is an atmosphere of care and support. As children and families in the community gear up for another year of learning, the Ronald McDonald House is committed to providing a safe haven for those families who are facing a different direction this year.

Looking ahead to our fall fundraising season, the Ronald McDonald House has some exciting events planned to raise funds and bring the community together in support of their mission. One highly anticipated event is the Handbag HULLABALOO! scheduled for October 19. Attendees will have a chance to win authentic designer handbags through a raffle-style game, all while enjoying an evening filled with inspiring stories from Ronald McDonald House family guests, delightful appetizers, a cash bar, a silent auction, raffles, and surprise games.

Additionally, during the month of September, Olde Salem Brewing and Twisted Track Brewing will be hosting a special event called Helping Hands Tap-of-the-Month. A portion of the proceeds from this tap will be donated to RMHC-SWVA, allowing beer enthusiasts and community members alike to contribute to this vital cause.

RMHC-SWVA remains committed to serving families with compassion, offering them respite during their most challenging times. With ongoing events like the Handbag HULLABLAOO! and collaborations with local businesses, the House continues to garner support and spread awareness about their mission.
